Fantasy Workshops - Teens

Wednesday 4:30-6:30PM

Students will create a unique watercolor and ink fantasy illustration based upon the original example piece by Grace Avery. Grace will paint along, provide tips and answer questions to help you gain confidence while exploring the full illustration process, from sketching to painting. You may choose to take one workshop, a few of your favorites, or the entire series.

This series is perfect for beginner to intermediate hobby artists with interest in learning how to illustrate in this style in a friendly, low-pressure environment. Some experience with drawing and painting will be helpful, as this series is most focused on producing a painting and less on theory. The workshops go from easiest to most advanced, with the mushroom house being the most introductory and the mermaid being the most complex.

Mushroom House - Jan 5

Create a whimsical illustration of a Mushroom house in the forest, while learning basic techniques for using watercolor and ink pens to create a mixed media illustration.

Sleeping Dragon - Jan 12

Craft your own illustration of a sleeping dragon using watercolor, ink pens, and masking fluid to create a twinkling starry sky.

Unicorn Meadow - Jan 19

Sew carpets of flowers and craft a soft cloudy sky while creating an illustration of a unicorn in a fantasy meadow.

River Mermaid - Jan 26

Try your hand at illustrating a mermaid lounging near a glistening rainbow waterfall in this final workshop.
